Polyurethane

The processing is similar to that of the boot in PVC, SEBS, TR; the mould mechanisation varies, as does the thickness of the shoe to be inserted on the last, and other bench operations. With polyurethane, it is possible to make boots only through the upper/sole process, a process that involves forming the upper first and then the sole. In the case of an upper/sole boot, the mould components consist of two shells, a last, and two different plates, one for the upper and one for the sole.

Thermoplastic materials

Thermoplastic materials (PVC, TR, SEBS, TPU) Boots made from thermoplastic materials can be produced through either sole/upper or upper/sole processes. In the sole/upper process, the upper is injected through a specific hole left in the construction of the sole. The components to create the mould for a sole/upper boot are two shells, a last, two plates, and a cover, the latter necessary to first create the sole. Boots made from thermoplastic materials can also be produced through the upper/sole process. In this case, the mould components are two shells, a last, and two plates. The main difference between the two processing methods lies in the greater production capacity, the ability to modify the mould with inserts, and overall better quality associated with the sole/upper process. However, safety shoes with reinforced toe caps can only be made through the upper/sole process.

EVA

Boots made from EVA are produced using a last, two shells, and a piston. To ensure that the boots take the correct shape, cooling forms are used, which can be made of wood, plastic, or aluminium. EVA boots, in particular, are widely marketed in northern countries. EVA, due to its properties, provides excellent thermal insulation compared to the terrains on which they are used.

produCTION OF MOULDS FOR BOOTS

The boot is a footwear that, in addition to the foot, covers the ankle and part of the leg. It can have a heel, which in turn can be distinguished from the rest of the sole or built as one piece. In addition to aesthetics, the boot is used for protection from water and mud, and in this case, it is often made of rubber and does not have a closure. Protective purposes also extend to workers in chemical industries for protection from toxic agents and to steel processing workers for molten metals.
